Apple unveiled its new iPhone yesterday. The short of it: there’s no headphone jack, they’re water-resistant, there’s a new operating system, a new color, and the iPhone 7 Plus has TWO cameras in the front for better pictures.
It’s true, there’s no headphone jack. You’ll have to get Apple’s completely wireless air pods (or some other bluetooth headphone) at $159…or use the adapter dongle that comes with the phone to plug in your current wired headphones into the charger port. The good news is that listening through the charging port gives you even better audio quality, because it can handle more data.
It has better cameras. In short: Apple stepped up its camera game. It has more megapixels, a better FaceTime camera, and a brighter flash. The full technical breakdown from Apple:
The 12-megapixel camera includes optical image stabilization on both iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, and a larger ƒ/1.8 aperture and 6-element lens enable brighter, more detailed photos and videos, and a wide color capture allows for more vibrant colors with more detail. iPhone 7 Plus features the same 12-megapixel wide angle camera as iPhone 7 and adds a 12-megapixel telephoto camera that together offer optical zoom at two times and up to 10 times digital zoom for photos.

- New Quad-LED True Tone flash that is 50 percent brighter than iPhone 6s including an innovative sensor that detects the flickering in lights and compensates for it in videos and photos.
It’s water-resistant. NO, YOU CAN’T GO SWIMMING WITH IT. But it is better protected against splashes, spills and dust.
It has a better battery life & performance. It has the best battery life of any iPhone, and it can run up to three times faster than iPhone 6.
New colors. No more space gray! iPhone 7 is available in silver, gold, rose gold and black…with a new “color” – a piano black – in 32GB, 128GB and 256GB.
New iOS. The new iOS, iOS 10, comes with a slew of features, including animated iMessage, emoji predictions, “invisible ink” text, handwriting, better use of Siri with apps, redesigned Maps that lets you make reservations, and more.
Cost and release. Pre-orders start Friday, September 9 with delivery beginning September 16. The iPhone7 is available in 32GB, 128GB and 256GB models starting at $649.
